I found the answer on a Punky Brewster fan site.
Her name is Penelope "Punky" Brewster.
Another interesting tidbit. Fred Gwynne (Herman Munster) was originally offered the role of Henry but turned it down.

I believe the question was "what was her real first name?"
Her REAL name was not Penelope, it is Soliel Moon Fry. Her acting name was probably Penelope, but that didn't look like the question to me.

Yes Aaron, that WAS the question, and that is the answer. Punky Brewster's real first name was Penelope. The question had nothing to do with the actress who played her. Read it again, please before drawing any conclusions. Thanks.
