OK, the Indiana Jones rip-off. Guy had a plane, action/adventure show. I keep thinking "Spider Monkey" in the name for some reason.

sounds like "Tales Of The Gold Monkey" starring Stephen Collins. i just remember he had a mechanic best friend who would always fix his plane.
