Subject: The Def Leppard Story

Written By: April on 7/18/2001 at 7:00 p.m.

Don't forget to watch "Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story" tonight on VH1. It's a 2 hour movie. It comes on at 9pm EST (check your local listings).

Man, I watched it and thought it sucked. I am a die-hard Def Leppard fan and was disappointed. Was it written by the band or what? Some of the shots were so hokey (close up/far away, close up/far away, flickering back and forth, etc.)
Seems like it could have been wrapped up much better than it was at the end.
Oh well, just my two cents worth.
They're still in the top three of my favorite rock bands.

Thanks, I totally forgot about that. I would have totally missed it if it weren't for you.

It was a pretty good story, but they could have picked better actors. The guy who played Sav and the guy who played Steve looked alot like the real guys. I agree with cs though, the camera shots were wierd. I did learn alot more about the band though.

Right, I thought it was good but not great either. I did like the guy who played Rick Savage too(he's my fav band member anyway), he looked quite a bit like him. I didn't care for the ending. No matter, they're still an awesome band

No kidding?! Sav is my favorite too! My only problem with the end was that the Hysteria tour was in the round, not a stage at one end. I know it might have been expensive to shoot, but it should have been in the round too. I think that would have been ultra cool. Having the stage at one end made it look fake.

Sorry, but I have to correct you. When I saw them on the Hysteria tour, the stage was at one end of the arena. Maybe it depended on what type of place they were playing?? I've never been to a concert where the stage was in the middle.

They WERE in the round when I saw them in Tacoma, Washington during the Hysteria tour.

I think this depended largely on arena size. I saw Def Leppard on the Hysteria tour as well, and they played on a stage at one end of the building; my cousin saw them a couple of weeks after I did and they were in the round. The difference? I saw them in an arena that seated around 10,000 and my cousin saw them in a football stadium.

I read an interview with Joe Elliot where he says they'll probably never use the center stage again because they were pretty well sick of it halfway through the Adrenalize tour. There goes my chance of ever seeing them in the round

Bummer! I'm sorry!
Hysteria was actually the first show I saw in the round...(well, not counting David Lee Roth's Skyscraper tour--he did PART of it in the middle of the arena!) but it was cool. Course after watching the "Behind the Music" about them, and hearing what was going on UNDER the stage...LOL! I saw it from the floor and they actually ran RIGHT past us...I can still remember Rick Allen's neon orange shorts...LOL!
I never realized that some of the shows were with the stage at the end, seeing as how all the videos were in the middle..but as you said, size probably would be a factor. The Tacomadome, where I saw them, is quite big.
I wonder what they didn't like about it? Maybe if they have to wait under there for any amount of time it gets cramped? I always wondered if there were 'tunnels' from under the stage that led to another location, I mean, I would think there would almost have to be.. but who knows..guess I just never mastered in construction.
You can always hope they change their mind!?!?
