Well I don't have this song, but I am thinking that it could be The Cure's "Just Like Heaven". The time frame fits. The Cure are a popular alternative band from the late 80's. Hope this helps!

I don't know what song this is, but it definately isn't "Just Like Heaven". Could still be The Cure though, but if it is it doesn't ring a bell.
