Subject: What ever happened to the Burger King logo?

Written By: Seth on 8/23/2001 at 10:04 p.m.

McDonald's has Ronald McDonald
Jack in the Box has Jack

In the '80s I remember Burger King had a logo/mascot or "man" that was dressed as a traditional European king. Does anyone remember this? Why did Burger King drop that? I used to love those little "king hats" and the Burger King man.

remember all the characters that McDonald's had to stop using? Officer Big Mac, Mayor McCheese, the Fry Guys, Captain Crook, and the Professor. They actually got sued by Sid and Marty Kroft for stealing the characters (the ad agency even worked with them when HR Puf'n'stuff made it big) I guess that was part of the settlement.

I'm actually looking for a Playland Mayor McCheese for my backyard to go with my Big Boy statue I ordered last week. Hence the reason I found out about the lawsuit.

I don't remember all the characters, but there were sveral in addtion to the Burger King(yep, that really was his name), but there was also a french fry robot type character, too. I think it was a cheesy attempt to counter the McDonalds group. There was even a jingle he would sing......"I'm the marvelous magical Burger King. I can do most anything." Or something like that. I think my Mom and Dad still have some of the character glasses they used to give out.
