Subject: Galtar & the Golden Lance

Written By: Mr S&W on 8/28/2001 at 3:42 p.m.

I just submitted some cheesy description of "Galtar and the Golden Lance" to this site. Man, I hope I'm right because about the only things I remember from the show were the weapon (Exar Kun and Lord Maul were copycats), that other weapon (the Kid's boomerang that split in three), and that's about it. Does anyone know if Hanna Barbera still exists and if they're willing to do a collector's DVD/VCD/Laser Disc of this series and maybe of others? Also --- which company was behind Conan the Adventurer (the one with 1/2 serpent girl Jasmine, Gray Wolf, and a whole bunch of rejects from D&D)?

H-B is alive and well, they're now owned by AOL-Time Warner. Ted Turner bought them out in the early '90s and started a little channel called Cartoon Network, which became huge. Turner later sold out to Time Warner, who then sold out to AOL. H-B produces many new cartoons, including "The Powerpuff Girls", not to mention reuses their old characters, like Scooby-Doo, in new shows and new merchandising.

Funny this topic comes up, I was flippign through DirecTV, and a Cartoon Network sister-station, "Boomerang" (they show hours of one particular cartoon in a block) was airing Galtar. It was cool seeing it, and now reading about it.

Can anyone list who had what weapons in Galtar? I remember some kid had a boomerang that split in three and the Golden Lance but that's about it.

Also, what was so powerful about the evil guy that he can only be stopped by the Golden Lance? (And the answer better not be, 'Dark Water' or Electric Alien Demons from Space)
