Subject: Heaven

Written By: Natsha on 8/21/1999 at 1:42 a.m.

This is more of a trip down memory lane for all of you since I can't remember the name of the song or the group, except for the fact that "heaven" was a word in the title. Do you the song was released around the time when Micheal Jackson's Thriller video was just released. They were playing it all over the tv I believe it was played on the Casey Cassem's Top 10 Countdown(please excuse the spelling) and the band was a one hit wonder(the song in question)...My challange to all of you: Name the arist/group and song that have the word "heaven" in it.

MJ's "Thriller" (i.e., the song/video) was a top 5 hit in the Winter of '84. Therefore, here is a complete list of all the chart hits from 1984 that had the word "Heaven" somewhere in the title (there were four), and their peak position in "Billboard" magazine:

01) "I'm Free (Heaven Helps the Man)" - KENNY LOGGINS (#22, Summer '84) 02) "Heaven's on Fire" - KISS (#49, Fall '84) 03) "Heaven (Must Be There)" - EUROGLIDERS (#65, Fall '84) 04) "A Chance for Heaven" - CHRISTOPHER CROSS (#76, Summer '84)

Of course, on the list above, only the Eurogliders were "one-hit wonders", as all the rest (Kenny Loggins, Kiss, Christopher Cross) had multiple hits in the '70s and/or '80s...

However, in the event your date is slightly off, here's the complete list from 1985:

01) "Heaven" - BRYAN ADAMS (#1, Summer '85) 02) "A Little Bit of Heaven" - NATALIE COLE (#81, Summer '85)

But neither Bryan Adams nor Natalie Cole were "one-hit wonders", either. And just for the record, I checked 1983 as well, and strangely, it turns out there were *no* chart hits that year w/ "Heaven" in the title! So assuming your time-line is correct, by process of elimination, the only artist that proved to be a "one-hit wonder" from 1983-85 w/ a song w/ "Heaven" in the title were the Eurogliders. Mystery solved???

Yeah, but the Def Leppard song was 'Heaven Is' and was released around '92/'93, not exactly matching the same time frame as MJ's 'Thriller' video.
