HELP! I'm planning an 80's party for my 30th in a couple of months. Would love any ideas/input in regards to "costume" ideas, must have music, decorations, ANYTHING! Thanks!

oh i have TONS of good ideas. lets first of start with dress...there are many different outlets you can take. 1) you can dress in a jean skirt and a long short sleeved shirt (the kind of with sleeves rolled up) and tie it in a knot on your hip, or suspenders if you wish. and a jean jacket with lots of pins on it. and get some really funky coloured stockings (like hot pink or neon orange) and wear some pastel boots with push down socks. then for the hair you can get a radical banana clip and crimp your hair and all. and totally accessorize...lots of bangles. and don't forget the blue eyeliner 2) the workout girl. complete with legwarmers and sweatbands (the reminds me..you have to play "lets get physical" 3) the madonna...pointy bra, fishnet stockings, a mole near the lips, lots of bracelts, fingerless lace gloves, heavy eye makeup, pull your hair back with a floppy net bow.
oh and if you want to...fit jellies in there somewhere..they were so eighties..moving on to music! madonna, naked eyes, micheal jackson, culture club, bananarama, the go-gos, ramones, etc, etc, too many to list, reply back to me if you want particular party songs...but you jsut have to have video killed the radio star.
food, i would go with all really fattening food...for somereason i totally associate taht with 80s...pizza, nachos, OH grape soda...and pop rocks...but make sure not to mix them.
Subject: I'd dress like Adam Ant's Prince Charming
I'd wear a Blue Dinner jacket, sew shiney things on it, tie weird rubber bands & small ribbons in to my hair, wear white leggings & some boots & wear way too much make up and draw two diagonal red stripes across one cheeck with lip stick. or I'd wear a Blue Drum Major jacket from a thrift store, tie all kinds of little things in my hair, and paint a white stripe across my face.
Aw, hell. Just wear an Izod.

Well, first off, get some good tunes! Essential 80s party stuff like: Devo, B-52s, The Fixx, Big Country, Van Halen, Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Beastie Boys, etc. For costumes, thats kinda tuff considering 80s styles are gone. Maybe neon colored ripped shirts, baggiest most colorful pants you can find, shades (Gargoyles or Wayfarers). Definitely spiked hair-dos, lots of gel, mousse and spray to create the famous 'Flock of Seagulls' styles. 80s junk food (Doritos, Funyuns, Cheez Its, etc.) Decorations: Strobe light for dancing, colorful stuff, baloons, etc. Thats it for me :) Good Luck hope your party is rad!
