Subject: Please help me with a song

Written By: Cady on 9/21/1999 at 3:16 a.m.

I don't know whether anyone will get this or not. I am looking for a dance song. I think it came out in the late 80's or very early 90's - no later than 1991- 1992. I believe it is called "Numero Uno". There are not many words, at least none that I remember. The phrase "Numero Uno" is repeated a few times, and at one point it goes "And a one, and a two and a three". I'm looking for the artist of this song and where I might find it. Thanx.

I'm not certain about this, since I don't believe I've ever heard the song myself, but checking some of my reference materials, I think you might be referring to "Number One" by Tamika Patton. (You didn't specify whether the song had male or female vocals.) It was a minor hit on the r&b charts in the Spring of 1990, and also a dance hit (but it failed to cross over to the pop charts). It was off her 1989 album, "#1". Unfortunately, the album has been out-of-print in all formats since 1992, but it was issued on CD here in the U.S. This song fits in perfectly w/ your time-line, anyway. Hope this lead pans out...

Thank you for your help. I will check it out. However, I'm not sure that it is the right song. The one I am looking for has both male and female vocals, even though there are few words. And I don't think it would really be considered an r&b song. It sounds somewhat like 2Unlimited, that group that had a couple dance hits in the early 90's like GET READY FOR THIS. However, the song I am talking about was never a hit that I am aware of. Thanx anyway.
