Subject: What album(s) is this song on?

Written By: Karen M. on 9/21/1999 at 2:53 p.m.

In the 80's, a country group called Restless Heart came out with a pretty song titled "I'll Still Be Loving You". I still hear this occasionally on the radio. I know it is available on the band's albums but I'm not a country fan and don't really want to buy their albums. Does anyone know whether or not this song is available on a compilation CD somewhere?

Restless Heart's "I'll Still Be Loving You" was a moderate hit in the Spring of '87, cracking the top 40 on the pop charts. It was off the band's 1987 album, "Wheels". Fortunately, the album is still in print today on both cassette & CD.

I, too, fell in love w/ that song when I first heard it on top 40 radio back in '87. (Still hear it every once in a blue moon today.) I've never been a fan of hard-core country music myself, but at the time, I decided to run out and buy the "Wheels" album anyway-"I'll Still Be Loving You" had enough of a "pop" flavor for my tastes. Well, I was pleasantly surprised-it turned out the whole album was fabulous, and I've been a RH fan ever since! That album probably ranks in my personal top 20 out of the 9,000+ that I own (i.e., not bad!). Their style is definitely more in the country/pop mold vs. straight country, although they usually include at least a couple of straight country songs on their albums. I currently have all but two or three of them.

In 1991, RH's label, RCA, released a hits collection titled "The Best of...", which included "ISBLY". That compilation is now out-of-print, although it was issued on CD. However, I was always disappointed w/ the song selection (it was also a bit skimpy), so I'd pass on that one.

Fortunately, in 1998, RCA put out a new (and much improved) RH collection, simply titled "Greatest Hits". It's still available on both cassette & CD. It also has a much-expanded track selection, and again includes "ISBLY". This is the one to get! It also contains their other excellent pop hit from the Spring of '93, "Tell Me What You Dream". (If you've never heard this one, you'll love it just as much as "ISBLY"-trust me!) Of course, their one other pop crossover hit, "When She Cries" (which you'll no doubt recognize, since it just missed the top 10 on the pop charts in the Winter of '93), is included as well.

You have little to fear buying an entire album by RH! Both the '87 "Wheels" album and last year's "Greatest Hits" are highly recommended, and they both feature "ISBLY"... :-)

Hey there! You seem to be quite an authority on pop music, as you've answered most of my questions and I've noticed your name under other people's questions. And with a music collection of 9,000+ albums I'd say you're not too far behind Joel Whitburn. Since we seem to like the same kinds of music from the 80's and we're close to the same age (early 30's), I was wondering if you also like any 70's artists. If so, I'm curious as to who...

P.S. Thanks for the info on Restless Heart!

Thanks, but I don't think I'll ever catch Mr. Whitburn, LOL! (But as you can probably tell, I do have quite a few of his books. In fact, I use them for dates all the time when posting on this board.) And besides, I pretty much stick to the music of the last 30 years-i.e., the stuff I grew up on...

You bet I love and collect the music of the '70s! In fact, the mid '70s to mid '80s are my favorite. So if you're talking the music of roughly 1975-79, it'd be easier to ask who I *don't* collect, LOL! I collect it all, as long as it sounds good to me, and my taste is fairly wide: pop/rock, soul/r&b, dance/funk/disco, new wave, etc. (Some vintage rap as well. Very little country, though-mostly just country/pop "crossover" acts, like Restless Heart.) If I had to rank the music by decade, the '80s would be my favorite (hence "80smusicfreak"), w/ the '70s a close second, and the '90s a distant third. I do collect a few artists whose roots go as far back as the late '60s, but nothing pre-"British Invasion". Again, before my time, and therefore does little for me (sounds too old and dated)...

You'd have a very hard time coming up w/ an artist from the '70s or '80s that was signed to a major label that I haven't at least heard of... :-)
