Subject: help!

Written By: Amy D. on 9/28/1999 at 7:08 p.m.

I know this is an '80's' message board, but I heard a song from like the 70's, I think it's called "Emmileen" or something like that. Anyone ever heard of it or know who sings it??

Your song is "Emma" by the British group Hot Chocolate, a Top 10 hit here in the U.S. in the Spring of '75. It was off their 1974 album, "Cicero Park". Unfortunately, the album is long out-of-print, and has never been issued on CD here in the U.S.

However, in 1998, they did release an excellent hits collection on the band here in the U.S., titled "Every 1's a Winner-The Very Best of...", which includes "Emma". It's still available today, and is CD-only. My only complaint about this compilation is that they omitted their classic song, "Heaven is in the Back Seat of My Cadillac", arguably one of their best, and certainly among my personal faves. I've loved this band since the '70s, and have all of their U.S. album releases on cassette, as well as some import hits collections. For the record, over in their native U.K., where they were much more successful, they've had at least a dozen "Best of..." and "Greatest Hits" collections released over the years, several of which are still available on CD today. You might want to look into some of those as well...
