Subject: 80's hair

Written By: Katie(in NY) on 10/19/1999 at 2:51 p.m.

My boyfriend and i are going to go as an "80's metal" couple for Halloween. I've got my acid washed, ripped jeans (which I'll peg) and a good old fashion black Metallica T-shirt,and a jean jacket for my costume, but I need some help on my hair and makeup. Can any one offer me up some advice? I know that the hair was big, but how BIG was big? I already have (slightly) curly, long hair with bangs so I should be able to do about any thing. Was "big hair" just bangs? I've heard that they could get pretty high. Any tips or memories describing this hairstyle would be appreciated.

Thanks, Katie

Katy - Big is B-I-G. Watch VH1 for some tips - i.e. Bon Jovi, Whitney Houston, Poison, etc. Lots of mousse, and blow drying your hair upside down should do the trick. By the way, where in NY are you? I grew up in Bayside Queens.

this comes up so often.. I'm going to dedicate a page to it... if someone could write a good detailed description of how to do big hair with some suggested brands, I'd love it.. being a guy, my hair never got that big.. though I did (and still do) use mouse... but since my hair is short, I just spiked a little of it

Katie, you might want to do a search on the past month or two for big hair as keywords on the messageboard since it's been discussed quite a bit lately..
