Subject: Tears for Fears

Written By: Mr. B on 11/5/1999 at 5:36 p.m.

Despite the fact I had heard Tears for Fears before, I will never forget the day that I first heard "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" on American Top 40 with Casey Kasem. I was a Spring day in Northern Maine, and I was raking the rocks, and dead grass on my front lawn with my radio blasting out the Top 40 on a Sunday afternoon... It was warm, and partly cloudy. I'll never forget how I sang along with it. I'm pretty sure it was 1986, and I was 16. "Shout" followed later that year, as I was playing the RISK board game in my friend's living room. It played RIGHT AFTER "Naughty, Naughty" by John Parr. I'll never forget those days... it's funny how I remember that, but I can't remember my bank account #!! Goes to show what's important in life...
