Subject: 80s Millennium Party

Written By: Dominic on 11/14/1999 at 12:04 p.m.

We are having an 80s style new years eve party. We are looking for some good pictures to download of bands etc. Where can we find some? Also, any ideas where we can get some 80s clothes and a pac man game from?

How about going over to Kmart this week and picking up a copy of "Millennium '80's New Wave Party"? It's on sale this week for $11.88! This ought to have great hits of the '80's on it! I haven't checked it out, though.

I've looked at this and it some something like "Music performed by the Millennium Party performers" or something to that extent. Doesn't mention who the performers are but I'd imagine they aren't the originals... almost bought the album til I saw that...

This from Rhino, who would never pull a stunt like this? Rhino should know better than this!

yeah, I'd have to say I'm quite disturbed by that.. Rhino is usually quite good about putting out quality compilations.. I bought something similar to this once before, from K-tel I think it was.. many many years ago (back in the 80s) and I have to say that they never live up to their hype..

they died off for quite a while too, until a year or two ago when that awful Chumbawumba song came out (I get knocked down, and I THROW UP AGAIN) and because the song wasn't released as a single, someone else released it under a similar name as a single and was generating some decent revenue.. and it's all legal, since anyone can record a song, they just have to pay a certain amount for the perfomance to the artist.. usually they try to negotiate it, so that it's cheaper, but in this case I guess they went right ahead and paid the full price

I ran across a copy of this album today at Circuit City and it seems to have original hits by the original artists, and Rhino, I know, wouldn't rip anyone off. Didn't buy it, though, but I might later on. I have two other albums in the series, "Millennium '60's Rock Party" and "Millennium '70's Classic Rock Party." The only thing I hate about the latter is that they used the short (45) versions of "Free Bird" and "Do You Feel Like I Do." Probably for space limitations.
