Subject: EXCUSE ME BUT NENEH CHERRY IS STILL AROUND!!!

Written By: Sjon on 12/29/1999 at 5:42 p.m.

I just surfed in and am dismayed to see that Neneh Cherry has shown up on a board of "Where are they Now" 80's site. Neneh Cherry is first and foremost the leading lady in Trip-Hop music (as it is known of her collaborations with such Trip_Hop acts such as Tricky, Massive Attack and Portishead). She had only one album made during the 80's ("Raw Like Sushi" - 1989) and two other albums that were from the 90's ("Homebrew" - 1992, "Man" - 1996). That hardly makes her an 80's star. Not to mention the fact that she's been on quite on few soundtracks including "Playing By Heart" which featured the song "Walk through these Doors", a duet with the lead singer from the band Live, as well as the newest song to date "Twisted Mess" (1999) which can be found on the soundtrack to the movie "Best Laid Plans" That song will be featured on her album of new material in January 2000, though I am sure that that's a European date and it will feature duets with Sheryl Crow and Huey from the alternative Hip-Hop/Soul band Fun Lovin' Criminals. Neneh Cherry is definitely NOT a canditate for a list of "Where Are They Now" stars! She's here people!!! The queen of Trip-Hop!!! Wake up!!!

Quite frankly you had to list all of this for me to know what she is doing these days. I had no clue what she was doing, heck her brother Eagle Eye Cherry seems to have been more mainstream than the beautiful Neneh. I loved the Buffalo Stance in High School, but I'm sorry I havent heard of her much since and like I said I saw more of her brother than her. So chill and as Nenah says "don't get fresh with me!"

Aj

PS-Doesnt Neneh look like actress Rae Dawn Chong, Tommy's daughter?
