Subject: Will the 00's be like the 80s????

Written By: GoGoGirl52 on 1/1/2000 at 10:10 p.m.

Okay, this is going to sound really weird, but today when I was at work, I saw about 10 people who looked like they were frozen on New Years Eve of 1989 and thawed out last night! I mean, the way they were dressed, it looked like they'd missed the 90s completely! I saw several women with really BIG hair, some wearing stonewashed jeans and tie-dyed shirts, LOTs of denim jackets, spiky high heeled shoes, and it just makes me wonder if the 80s fashions will be coming back. I mean, the 70s style came back in the 90s, so I think it will be cool if the 80s style came back in the 2000's. As a matter of fact, I'm already starting! I have a very pretty denim jacket that I bought back in August, and I stuck my first pin on it last night: a year 2000 smiley face! Yep, I think the 2000's will be very glitzy and fun!

I have been sporting pins for the past few months: 'RELAX' black on white, Duran Duran. eBay.

Over here, in Antwerp, Belgium, there's also a quite hip club, called Fill Collins Club (actual name), that issued little pinbacks some half year ago.

Pins definately rule. As of course do the eighties.

I think we won't see full blown acceptance for a few more years, usually it's 25 years or so for mass nostalgia to take effect.. which means my new 90s site is got a long way to wait before it can be considered hip I guess..

GoGoGirl, that sounds like a very trippy experience (excuse the 60's lingo!). But I love big hair and I hope it makes a comeback. Can't say the same for acid-washed denim, however... :)

It's hard to say when the 80's fashions will come back. I think it will be sooner than 25 years, though. People seem to be very fond of looking back at the 80's -- MTV had an 80's nostalgia show starting as early as 1990; and also there have been quite a few 80's-themed movies lately.
