Subject: Movie Soundtracks: Ferris and Adv. in B-Sitting

Written By: Brian Meacham on 1/10/2000 at 3:21 p.m.

If anyone knows where I could find the soundtracks to either "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" or "Adventures in Babysitting", please let me know.

I've been looking Adventures in Babysitting for a friend for quite some time, and I can safely say it's not easy to find...

As for the Ferris Bueller's Day Off Soundtrack, it doesn't exist. John Hughes said he didn't release one because the songs didn't mesh together as a compilation. The one place you can listen to the bootleg version of the Ferris Soundtrack in it's entirity is on the 80s server (WWW.80s.com) and you can listen to every song from the movie.

you're right, I found the FAQ on Deja. and they list out the songs you need to find, which I've copied below. As far as the 80s server, I went there to see if I could find it, but all I found was a bunch of trivia games and some real audio jukeboxes. The mpeg USENET newsgroup recently featured all the tracks from the movie though...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Director John Hughes refused to release a soundtrack album for his film FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF because he didn't think that the diverse collection of songs in the movie would "work" together. People have been looking in vain for that album ever since. The closest thing that exists is a promotional single featuring tracks from the film; the single was distributed through the mail and at sneak previews around the time of the film's release and contained the Flowerpot Men and Blue Room songs.

This listing will help you find the albums and singles where the songs used in the film originally appeared. Armed with this information, you can compile your own version of the mythical Ferris Bueller's soundtrack. The songs are listed below, accoupanied by the scenes in which they were used and the releases on which they are most readily available in the US. CDs are listed where possible, but some tracks are difficult to find in any format. If you have information not included here, please pass it along. Maybe someday some enterprising bootlegger will pull these all together and release a soundtrack of their own... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you go to the 80s server, there is a link to the Save Ferris web site, on this website is all the tracks to the movie. The problem is, however, that you must be an 80s server VIP member (4 bucks a month) to listen to all the tracks.

I've never really seen the point of paying to access a web site, especially to hear bootlegged music, doesn't seem quite right... I actually have an 80s radio station now, maybe I'll convert my copy to be played on it and stick them up there..
