Subject: song on Tampax commercial

Written By: Jean on 1/29/2000 at 9:21 p.m.

This might be a 70s question, but I'll shoot anyway....

You know the Tampax commercial where there's a half time show going on in a football field, and there's a song playing in the background that goes...

"work it baby...work it right...work it baby...work it all night"

Who sings this song? I want to say Kool & the Gang or Earth, Wind & Fire, but I'm not sure.

Now that's driving me nuts! I know exactly the commercial you're talking about, but can't for the life of me "hear" the music. Ugh!!

Yes, "Let It Whip" is indeed the song here and it was a #5 hit in May of 1982. Cool song!

I know, 80smusicfreak, sometimes commercials can ruin great songs, although I didn't think the Tampax commercial was that bad. One song that I used to love that got overplayed on a commercial was Bob Seger's "Like A Rock"...they always play it on the stupid truck commercial (don't even remember the make), and it's all chopped up!!! Can you think of any others?

How about the Phil Collins song "Tonight". To this day I hear the song and get the urge to pop open a Michelob!!!

Speaking of Michelob, I hated the version of Eric Clapton's "After Midnight" they used on their commercials! To this day I call the slow, sucky version of "After Midnight" the Michelob version. Can't hold a candle to the 1970 uptempo version!
