Subject: Name this tune please.:-)

Can anyone remember the proper song title and artist who sang the song "Sausolitus summer nights" in the early 80's. Some of the words were ...........200 hundred miles from La ...the engines thumpin like a disco, we aught to dump her in the bay All aboard, Sausolitus summer nights.. repeat

I thought the artist was diesel but now I'm not sure.

It is Diesel and the title is Sausalito Summer Nights. Sausalito is a town in California.

Yes. The artist is Diesel and the song is from the album, "Watts in a Tank."

Beware, though . . . there are several other artists out there going by the name of Diesel and they range in style from dance to rock. So, if you see any albums out there by "Diesel," the only ones made by the "Sausalito Summer Night" band are "Watts in a Tank" and "Unleaded."

"Watts in a Tank" is a good album. It's not one of those albums where the popular song is good and the rest of it sucks. If you like early 80s rock then it's a good one to find. It's out of print, so look carefully. I saw one shop selling a copy for $12.00 on vinly . . . but I found a copy still sealed for 20 cents! The cassette finds it's way into bargain bins a bit more readily than the vinyl.

Or you could try to find the song on a compilation.

BTW, will all the talk about Sausalito, it may come as a surprise that the band was actually from Europe . . . Holland, I believe.

I already have Diesel's "Watts in a Tank" on cassette; had it for years. And like you, I think it's a great album! However, I still need their second one, "Unleaded". You mentioned above seeing "Watts in a Tank" on cassette quite a bit; can you find me "Unleaded" on cassette??? (Not interested in having it on vinyl, and I know it doesn't exist on CD.) Any help appreciated! :-)

Great to meet another fan of Diesel (the *real* one)! Unfortunately, I've never seen "Unleaded" in any format. I've only read about it in discographies. If you ever find it, please post . . .
