Don't hold me to it, but I heard it was carlos santana. this is only what I heard. It seems like i heard this recently on a special on carlos.

I'm glad to see that there is another admirer of the guitar work on that song! Unfortunately I don't have the answer (sorry). I do recall that there are two solos in the song (one in the middle and one at the end) and each is performed by a different guitarist. I also think Joe Walsh performed on this song but I don't know if he did any of the solo work. Hopefully someone else on the message board still has a copy of the album "I Can't Stand Still" and can check for us - the solo players are clearly identified in the credits. My own album met an accidental death some years ago :(
