Well, "melodic rock" is a pretty broad topic, but there are a couple of things that come to mind. Keep in mind, with adverts like Rupert Holmes and Enuff Z Enuff it is rather difficult to figure out exactly where you are coming from but here goes: "The Church"-ANY album by them is a sure hit for you. Alternative melodies at its absolute BEST. "INXS"- you probably already have them but... "Blue Oyster Cult"-80's rock...buy "E.T.I. Live", or "Fire of Unknown Origin" "Cheap Trick"-Since you probably have most of them..."Music for Hangovers (Live)" By the way, I live in Illinois,US boring A, most of the members were from there...I believe Rick still lives in Rockford and is well known for his extensive Classical Symphony music collection. I started listening to Cheap Trick when I was 10 (1979) and haven't stopped yet. Another local 80's Power Ballad band was... "REO Speedwagon"- must purchase "A Decade of Rock 'n Roll" (not the second one but the one that covers the 70/80's)...but in all fairness, you must also purchase "Hi'n Fidelity"...they go hand in hand. So does Cheap Trick and REO. At least back then. "The Cars"- anything will do, but I like "Candy-O" the best. "The Cult"- You might like some of their newer stuff, but I don't...however the album "Love" is one of my all time favorites. If you don't like the tracks "(she sells) Sanctuary" and "Rain" off that album, then there's probably little we have in common. GREAT ALBUM. "Dogs D'Amour"-This one is more obscure but absolutely THE BEST. Anything and everything will be fine. They do not exist anymore but I can't recommend a better group of Pirate Rockers than these guys...if you don't own any Dogs D'Amour then you can't run a musical web page entitled "Melodic Rock". Skip the 12"'s if you can and buy the albums. I can absolutely GUARENTEE you will love them. Must be listened to at maximum volume. A few drinks in the process wouldn't hurt. Lord knows they had a few. Look forward to your return e-mail. Tell me what you think. (skidynastar@hotmail.com) P.S. I can't seem to get your web page's e-mail link to work. It might be my computer...Mac Incrash.

Roachman, Thaks for your kindness massage. Well now I'm 34 years old, living in japan.

The First time I listend "Melodic rock" when I was 15 years old. It was "Cheap trick/Dream police" album. After that , I listend Journey , Foreigner , Cheap Trick , TOTO etc... Of course REO speedwagon , I listend over and over!!

I think "MELODIC ROCK" is a part of "power pop" a part of "Heavy metal" also "AOR" "Bryan Adams" Oh yes!! "INXS".

But "Duran Duran" is NOT "Melodic rock".

Thanks for PROMPT response, however I am assuming you meant to say "Thanks for the kindness message" rather than massage :) Pending on your gender that could be taken the wrong way. However I have never recieved an international-phone-line "massage" before...must be a 90's thing. Seriously though, I liked your web page and have a better idea of your taste in "power pop". I suppose Dogs D'Amour might be pushing the envelope a little, but I still stand by what I said. P.S. Did I mention Duran Duran? Believe it or not, I didn't like them when they came out (it was pretty much restricted to "Chess King/girl idols stuff") however, I have grown to like them...now that it's safe to listen to them :) I'll give credit where credit is due. Rio/Hungry Like the Wolf, pretty decent stuff...Remember Foghat?:)

I think Duran Duran's 90s music probably fits well into the melodic type music your looking at, at least the popular singles "Come Undone" and "Ordinary World" and their last album Medazzaland.. their 80s stuff (which I also love) is probably too dance oriented..
