The Ocean Blue just put out an excellent new album entitled Davey Jones Locker. It can be purchased from the band directly by going to this fans site http://www.pianalto.com/tob/ I'm surprised no one ever mentions them in the message baords. They hade the big hit in 89 called Between Something and Nothing.....and Ballerina Out of Control. The band rules!

Hey wow. I didn't know they were still around! Cool!

Back in the early 90s, I was inclined not to like them upon first encountering them on MTV. The song was alright, not great, and the lead singer reminded me of Stuart Smalley (Al Franken's character on Saturday Night Live). I was also getting annoyed with Smiths clones from Britain.

Then, about a month later someone gave me one of their CDs (Beneath the Rhythm and Sound) and, after giving it a real listening, I liked them. I noticed that they weren't the British Smiths clones I thought they were. They were more cheerful, weren't whiney, and were from Pennsylvania. I had been turned off to them from all the Smiths comparisons that I read. However, they were a bit different from the Smiths. I liked them much better. They had a little Echo and the Bunnymen sound going on, too, which is very cool.

Nice to know they are still around . . . and that they are releasing their own albums.

Great . . . now I have "Sublime" going through my head!
