Subject: Tin Men

Written By: marcia milligan on 3/21/2000 at 4:50 p.m.

I watched Tin Men last night & my husband says the group, Fine Young Cannibals sang the song, "Good Thing" in the movie. From the credits, I believe he is correct. My questions is: if the movie is set in 1963, why is a song that was recorded in the 1980's by a 1980's group included in the movie, unless it was a rerecording by The Fine Young Cannibals? Does anyone know if the song was original in the 1980's, or a rerecording of an earlier song? Thanks.

their linear notes are confusing on their album, but as far as I can tell, they wrote it.. so it's original...

not the first time a new composition has been used in a period piece.. and I'm sure that it probably fit in with the movie, their music always sounded like something older in my opinion.. especially for the 80s, no synth or hard rock guitar

I actually take back the last comment, they do use some synth in some of their songs.. been awhile since I listened to this album I guess.. Good Thing didn't though.. which was always a much better song that "She Drives Me Crazy" in my opinion... loved the video for Good Thing too.. riding around on all the little motor scooters in England and such.. Vespas I think..
