I am having a theme party (Musicians of the 80s) and need ideas for awesome woman artists to be. NOT Madonna or Cyndi Lauper cause thats what everyone will be. Also if there are any really cool women in movies or TV that you can remember im sure a few exceptions can be made. well thats it . the more creative ideas the better!! thank you! dylan

Man, this is a bit of a challenge. After all, for your costume to recognizable you have to come up with a female artist that had a distinctive look and is still remembered. I'm having a hard time coming up with people other than Madonna & Cyndi Lauper. In addition to what Boy of Corn posted you may consider Olivia Neuton John during the "Physical" era (work out suit with the leg warmers, etc.) You could accentuate the costume with a cassette player playing her music.

Seeing as you are open to suggestions of women from movies I can point out that "The Empire Strikes Back" came out in 1980. Naturally I'm referring to Princess Leia from the Jabba the Hut scenes. It may be a bit risque but, hey, at least it's a costume that is well remembered ;)

How about Annie Lenox? If you really want to get risque, there is also Vanity, from Vanity 6, and as a more reasonalble compromise, Wendy and Lisa who were in Prince's (as he was called back then) band, and Sheila E.
