Subject: Guiffria and Orion the Hunter

Written By: Michele F. on 4/27/2000 at 12:57 p.m.

Whatever happaned to Guiffria who sang "Call to your Heart" and Orion the Hunter who sang "So you Ran" They seem to have been one hit wonders. Orion the Hunter had a member from Boston in it - I think it was Brad Delp but I'm not sure. Guiffria was Greg Guiffrias group and featured lots of keyboards in it. Do you remember these groups? : )

Few people know this, but Greg Guiffria was in a band before Guiffria, called Angel. They dressed all in white and angel wings on stage and the album covers. They were supposed to be the opposite of Kiss, who were wearing only black, and suffered accusations of being satanic devil worshipers. There were at least three albums, all in the mid to late 70's. I don't know if they are still in print or not

Giuffria (I wouldn't know how to spell it if I didn't have one of their albums!) recorded two albums,I believe. The first was self-titled, came out in 1984, and featured "Call To The Heart." The second album was Silk + Steel, and came out in 1986. Then, in 1988, Gregg Giuffria formed another band, House of Lords (my favorite band!), a hard rock group that went on to record 3 albums that are AWESOME, if you can get your hands on them! -Paige

Excellent songs both. I thought "Call To The Heart" sounded like Steve Perry of Journey. You never hear that song on any 80's flashback shows! Orion was a side project of Barry Goudreau (Boston's guitarist). They had a singer who sounded like Brad Delp though. The album they put out is back in print on CD. I saw the group RTZ (Return To Zero) which was a Boston offshoot band - one hit wonders with "Until Your Love Comes Back Around" - and they did a cover of an Orion The Hunter song, "Joanne." I thought The Outfield was Orion The Hunter when I first heard "Your Love."
