Does anybody know of any significant inventions in technology in the year 1980? I need to know because I am doing a report for my AP History class. Thanks!

The walk-man was invented in 1979 but really invaded our society in 1980.
In 1980, Microsoft sold a license of its MS-DOS system to IBM. One year later, the first "IBM-PC" compatible computers come tot he market.
Yes, I know, this may perhaps be not exactly what you're looking for but the year 1980 itself isn't particularly rich in technological events...
