Okay, let's dust off the old brain here :) Big in Japan is by a group called Alphaville and was released in the early part of 1984, or possible late 1983. One Night in Bangkok is from the musical "Chess" and was performed by Murray Head. The music and lyrics were by Tim Rice (who has worked a lot with Andrew Lloyd Webber) and the male half of ABBA. It was released in the early part of 1985, and I'm sure of the year because I was dating a British girl at the time and she introduced me to a lot of weird stuff they were playing in the UK then.
