Subject: Should I ditch this messageboard software and try a different package?

Written By: ChuckyG on 12/28/98 at 09:30 p.m.

I can't help thinking that this software is just not that great.. it doesn't allow message quoting, and I don't like how the messages don't get listed like the old software.. I found better software I think I want to use... only I won't be able to delete twit postings before everyone else sees them... what's everyone's opinion on this?

The new software will allow you to receive email updates of new posts, allow you to configure the display, and support "cookies" to auto-configure the board on your return...

If a problem does arise from a certain "problem" visitor, I could change it to allow only registered users to post, which I think takes away a little bit, and places a burden on me to add users... it would also allow email notifications to posts (which is awesome!)

Personally I think a bit of the flavor of the old message board is missing with the new software, so I'd love to know what people think...

Take a look at what I'm talking about here

I would like a change if it would get people to communicate as of old. Sure there may be a few idiots who post crap but you can always delete it. Plus, having this current system may have caused those causing trouble to move on to other things. You would know better on the truth of this statement as you are screening messages currently. If there are still idiots trying constantly to get in then I feel differently.

I personally like the format you're using now, I think it's easier to scan the thread topics than with the other format. Just my two cents.

Actually, one of the new ones I'm looking at will still have a front page with just the threads, and then you click and see the entire thread.. the problem with the current software is that you can't see that I've responded to you and not myself...
