Subject: Depeche Mode Review

Hello all,
Well I finally was able to get to see my favorite group of all time again. It had been roughly 10 years since the last time I got to see them live so this was an incredible high for me.
The seats I had were incredible (8th row center) and this added to my excitement as I was able to see faces and expressions on their faces.
The opening act wasn't bad (Stabbing Westward) and made for an enjoyable pre-show event...I have seen worse.
Approximately 9:15 the lights went down and the crowd jumped to its feet. In the center of the stage towards the back were a hugh "D" & "M" with a 3 sided screen in between them. They all started to glow while "painkiller" played. The drummer and keyboardist came out first and then Fletch, Martin and Dave. They all looked great, Martin in a silver shirt and pants, Fletch in basically black t-shirt and pants....Dave was wearing black pants and button down shirt and a vest that looked more like something Tony Bennet might wear. They broke into "Question of Time" and everyone started dancing and singing. Dave had incredible energy and his voice sounded better than ever. They all appeared to be having a good time as the audience was very into it.
I really can't remember the set list but some of the major highlights of the show were:
Enjoy the Silence-The audience sang the chorus for this one....DM seemed rather impressed that we were that loud.
Personal Jesus-Once again we provided "reach out and touch faith." Dave was always smiling which made me happy.
Somebody-This song was the start of the first encore and it was just Martin on stage singing...Awesome song and his voice was great.
Final Encore-"Just can't get enough" needless to say a great way to end a show.
All in all the show was incredible, the lights, the band, just to be able to see them again and think about it is still sending chills down my spine.
One complaint, being that I have been a fan for a long long time I was disappointed that they did not do hardly any old songs. No, "people are people", "master and servant", "everything counts", "shake the disease". They played solid for 2 hours and i guess you can't play everything you have recorded over the years.
Anyway it was a great show and I am so glad that I experienced them live again.
Have a good day all,
Dan

Stabbing Westward is opening for Depeche Mode?!?! Wow! That would be like Marilyn Manson opening for Scritti Politti!
