Subject: cherry wine?

Written By: Jean on 11/28/98 at 00:36 a.m.

I was wondering if anyone knew who sings the song that goes...

"We don't have to take our clothes off
to have a good time, no no
We can dance and party, all night
and drink some cherry wine, uh huh"

I heard this song on a big 80s weekend on the radio, and I've checked the International Lyrics Server but came up empty...

I think the guy's name is Jermaine Stewart. I just remember vaguely the video for it. A one-hit wonder I'm sure.

Jean-

I know the song that you are talking about; it is called "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off (To Have A Good Time)" The artist was either Jermaine Jackson or Jermaine Stewart, i'm not sure.

According to my book here, the Billboard Top 40 book, the song was a top 10 hit in 86. Jermaine Stewart had another Top 40 hit in '88 called "Say It Again" and I don't remember that song at all, but it went to #27 so it must've been at least a minor hit. My favorite song from Jermaine Stewart is "Jody". I've got it on 45; it's one of my all time favorite songs, mainly because I had a friend named Jody at the time and the song just really described her.

Jermaine Stewart's "We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off (To Have A good Time)" is one of those great, one-hit-wonder ditties from the '80's that puts a smile on everyone's face as soon as they hear it!!! Played the song this weekend at an '80's dance-a-thon, and everybody went nutz, saying "I totally forgot about this killer song"!!! Another song that really brought the house down was "The Sun Always Shines On TV" by a-ha. And it practically registered a 4.0 on the Richter Scale when I played Scandal's "Goodbye to You"....
