Subject: The return of Mozz

Written By: MaxwellSmart on 04/26/04 at 10:02 pm

I picked up  the new Issue of Spin today.  It's got Morrissey on the cover, and several pics of him inside.  I haven't read the article yet.  He's really showing his age.  I think he looks a few years older than he really is.  But he wears it well and he always did from the time he appeared on the scene at age 25.  I always thought his line "I am sick and I am dull and I am plain" was so ironic!

Thanks for the info Max. I'll definitely check it out. I also heard he was in the April issue of GQ. He apparently was dissing David Bowie and complaining about people still asking him about a Smiths reunion when he said he gave the answer years ago!

Thanks for the info Maxwell. I am going to pick it up. I bought the GQ mag and the article was great. Good pictures too. You are very right about him showing his age. He still looks like a handsome devil though.

I bought the Spin issue yesterday, and the Morrissey feature is great!! Yes he is showing his age, but he is pushing 50 you know!! ;) I still think he looks good though, and he's definitely mellowed somewhat. But, judging from the tracklisting for the new album, he's still got some of the same old Morrissey...and he's still a vegetarian!! ;D YAY!

Actually, he's only going on 45.  DOB 5/22/59.  My oh my, does time ever fly!  The Spin article is way too short, but that's the nature of the mag.  Some may say Mozz has sold out with his Beverly Hills home and California chic, but since when did he take a vow of poverty?  He never suggested he favored Walley Range, did he?
:D

Yeah yeah yeah, whatever. He's still nearly 50!! But OK, maybe I'm aging him a bit too quickly. :)

Too short? It goes on for several pages! I was actually surprised at how lengthy it was, which I thought was wonderful!

I wasn't too thrilled when I heard that Morrissey had moved to L.A. (or the States in general), same when I heard about Depeche's Dave Gahan (and we all know what that did to his life!), and now Martin Gore! I can certainly understand wanting to leave a stifling environment for something better, but why Los Angeles? That screams sell-out! And I've heard it's really not all it's cracked up to be. Why not some other suburban neighbourhood? Or a different country? ;D I know Morrissey never favoured Whalley Range, but I thought that for quite some time he had an affinity for Manchester. I guess he changed his mind. Oh well, he's entitled. At least he's kept his Englishness. :) And I don't think he's living the "life of Reilly." He's living a modest existence, which I admire. He's not flaunting his money. Moz might live in L.A. but he definitely hasn't sold out. At least he didn't move to Beverly Hills!! ;D

OK, he's NEAR Beverly Hills.  I was remembering that line from Your Arsenal, "We look to Los Angeles for the language we use, London is dead, London is dead, London is dead!"  That statement makes his California move ironic.  I think these aging pop stars end up in So. Cali. for the climate, and because there's more career-saving connections to be made there.

Don't worry, Morrissey's a heluva lot more mature than David Gahan.  As much as I loved DG as a vocalist and an energetic frontman, he's got a bird-brain.  DG has icky tastes, too.  He's a mullet man with a second-tier hasbeen porn star for a wife.

Erm...Max? I think you screwed up somewhere in your post and mixed up quoted bits with things you typed and I can barely read it. It's doing my eyes in! Could you fix it please? :)
