Subject: Meg Ryan

Written By: Heather on 04/27/04 at 10:02 pm

She first stole my heart in "Innerspace", and then I saw her in "When Harry Met Sally...".  Then she did some more great movies, including "When A Man Loves A Woman", "Sleepless In Seattle", "Courage Under Fire", "City Of Angels" and let us not forget her performance in "The Doors".  She went on to become my fave actress ever.  She was so refreshing to me.  So extremely beautiful and sexy w/out being dirty.  She did one nude scene in "The Doors" that was really brief, and she did a couple of love scenes.  But she was always so wholesome and vulnerable, yet strong and independent.  Set in her ways!  My kinda' woman!  Then, I hear about her doing really explicit and graphic sex scenes and she shows off her "goods" in this new movie called "In The Cut"!  This movie, supposedly, has this very realistic "sex act" in the beginning, she doesn't do it, but the idea of her being in such a flick is pretty disturbing.  I know she wants to expand, but she should do so by being in a really powerful movie, not a semi-porn!  I haven't seen this movie yet, and I don't intend to, but if any of you have seen it, what is it like?

Meg Ryan, in my opinion, did her best in The Doors, When a Man Loves a Woman, and City of Angels. Meg Ryan is amazing, it's just something you know after seeing any of her amazing performances. It isn't just work.. and you more than know it.

I also hear all these people talking about her getting plastic surgery and stuff, like having collagen injected into her lips.  To be honest, I have noticed a bit of a change in her appearance.  Not that I'm lambasting her if she did, but that is truly sad to see these beautiful women getting all this plastic surgery......AND IT'S ALL SO THAT THEY CAN COMPETE WITH BRITNEY "S***NEY" SPEARS!!!!!

Such a shame!

I definitely think The Doors was some of her best work. But I really enjoyed Innerspace and Harry and Sally.
She's more versatile than alot of people give her credit for.

I always said she should have been Tinkerbell in the movie Hook (instead of Julia Roberts)

As much as I luv Julia...I think Meg would've been better suited for that role, b/c she's more effervescent and she's bubbly.

I also love that first film she did w/ Tom Hanks, "Joe vs. The Volcanoe".  It's very dark, but I luv it!  She plays three different roles in the movie, very impresseive, but in the middle of the film, she has really long blonde hair and very little makeup on.  Not that I am judging her solely on her looks, but she looked exceptionally beautiful in this particular film.  I also thought she was gorgeous in "Sleepless In Seattle".

I like Meg's hair in When Harry MEt Sally, when they were in their present day.

Omigod!  I tried to get my hair 2 look like Meg's in "Harry & Sally", but my hair SUCKS!!

I did come out looking like I've been electricuted.....couldn't quite escape being stared at on the streets.  Luckily, my best friend, Carla, works in a beauty parlor and she was able to help me out....couldn't get that hairstyle, though.  2 bad.  I did wear it the way she wore in "Sleepless", though.  I have since then cut it short with a butterfly clip, b/c I think it's cute.

I also love the notion that men and women CAN be friends.....we SHOULD be friends instead of battling each other!

I have an equal number of male/female friends.  Always more fun to have a whole bunch of men and women friends.  My mom complains that I have too many men friends, though, because she thinks men are the enemy.  Well.....she also thinks I should be married by now!  Go figure!)

I liked a lot of her movies...probably "Sleepless In Seattle" best but I lost interest in her when she went out with that wretched russell crowe :P

I think The Doors and Courage Under Fire was by far her best work but I like the movie IQ (with Walter Mattheiu). If you haven't seen this movie, I recommend. It is a romantic comedy (like many of Meg's films). Mattheiu does a great job playing Albert Einstien.

i for one am glad to see meg doing some more juicy roles as opposed to all these silly sexist romantic films.  too many talanted women throw their talent away on all these crappy romance stuff where women are seen as sappy and helpless little beings who are crippiled without a man in their life.  personally, i think romantic movies should be banned.

why are people so quick to criticize meg for being a strong woman?

dude, I was watching Oprah and she had Meg Ryan on as her guest....WTF happened to her face?  She used to be so pretty and stuff, and I believe that she got a lot of plastic surgery...and...oh man, it doesn't even look like her anymore...it's all tight where it need not be...and when she smiles...she resembles the Joker....it's just not natural or cool. :-\\

She's had so much plastic surgery on her face, if she stood perfectly still, you'd swear she was an actual mannequin :D

Meg's best role was in "Armed and Dangerous".  It was only a supporting role for her, but that movie was wickedly funny.

"You are now armed guards.  God help us all"  :D
