I would choose Hot for the Teacher. I don't know if that would fit in before 1984. If not I choose Jump.

The ol' classic 'Jump' - which broke them over here...

(There was also a version by Scotland's Aztec Camera about at the time, who - if memory serves - performed the song in a relaxed, acoustic style...!!)

Both are on the same album "1984" so your first choice would fit.

I chose "Unchained"...I have always dug the riff in the intro...classic Eddie!!

And The Cradle Will Rock would be my second.

I should probably pick Jump! because I love they synths, and Aztec Camera covered it, but I'm going with Panama 'coz I love the part where David Lee Roth does the cheesy spoken lyric--
"Runnin' a little bit hot tonight...."
;D

I like the half minute 1984 better than most all their songs with lyrics!
Ok, maybe that is not the point of a poll but so what? It is my opinion they don't always have to be yellin and drummin to make cool tunes.  And doesn't this poll only cover album- 1984?  Which isolates this list from including the few toe tappers released after DLR vacated the front line.

Jump is the only David Lee Roth era song that I really enjoyed.  They did have other good songs, but I'll only hear them once in a blue moon  :-\\
