As much as I like Journey...I didn't think their videos had that much creativity to them.  :-X

You're right.  As much as I like Journey, you could tell that videos were just something that the record companies made them do.  If you've seen the "After The Fall" video, you will know what I'm talking about.  Probably the best Journey video was "Lights/Stay Awhile".  It was live and they were in their true element!

As much as I love those guys, Daryl Hall & John Oates had the worst videos in my opinion.  Alot of them were just plain silly and took away from their music.

You're right there Sting, Journey's a great band, but their videos ranged from lame to ridiculous. I love the song "Seperate Ways", but the video looks like they shot it at Home Depot! Whose idea was that? Maybe a video for "Only Solutions" would've been better. Since it was used in the movie TRON, the early computer animated effects would've made an interesting clip. And I should add, Most of Hall & Oates's vidoes weren't nearly as good as their songs. I think the exceptions would be "Out Of Touch", which was basically a performance clip, and "Maneater", the bit with the big jungle cat was cool. But the "Private Eyes" video, while a good song, announced to the world loud and clear that the guys couldn't dance!

Any other cool songs with dumb videos?

Your Pal,
Doc

Other - Falco and his "Der Kommissar" video.  Wasn't that shot at one of those "Make Your Own Video" stores at the mall or something?

Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" is just painful to watch.  Ultimate cheese :P  Yet they play it on VH1 Classic all the time!  WHY????  Who is requesting this crapola? ???

No arguments from the Journey fan here!    :P

Cheesey concepts and productions. (love the Home Depot reference, Doc Brown  ;D  )  And, with a couple exceptions, the live performances were of the the "let's pretend we're on stage" variety shot in a studio.  ::)

BUMP

I'm a definite fan of early-mid 80's Journey (and Steve Perry's 3 solo hits), but I had to pick them. As has been pointed out, they didn't seem to put much "effort" into their videos - I even remember on this 80's flashback show aired in '99, Steve said he never liked the idea of doing videos.

Just a personal preference thing, but I NEVER liked "pure performance-type" videos. Ironically, some of my favorite bands were the ones often doing these -- Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Springsteen, KISS, etc. I like "storyline" vidoes much more. :)

Kylie made some pretty average videos in the 80s.

I picked Journey. They are an okay band but I never cared for their videos.
