Subject: Favorite 80's Daytime Soaps

Written By: RockandRollFan on 04/29/04 at 1:26 pm

I got into the Soaps back in 1980 at college.  My guy friends all thought I was nuts until they found out where I spent time watching...at ther girls dorms lounge.  It's strange how many of them changed thier attitude after that.  I always liked the whole Luke and Laura thing so I'll choose G.H. with Bo & Hope and Days Of Our Lives a very close second....

Days Of Our Lives.  It was the only one that was on after school so I could get hooked.  Of course, now it has gone to heck in a handbasket. ::)

The Young & the Restless.  My mom watched it from the first episode.  Later on I got hooked on General Hospital, which I recently got back into.

I would pick Another World, which is currently airing episodes from 1988 on Soapnet. I also liked Santa Barbara with Cruz and Eden.

I remember watching Another World but not for long. I'm pretty sure the character who played Greg on AMC went over there for a few years ???

All My Children

Definitely the ABC soaps were much better. Athough Young and the Restless had great story lines, though for my age I shouldn't have been watching them.

Loving and All My Children, I used to watch these with my mom. I was watching AMC up until a year ago when it got too stupid to tolerate. Then I got hooked on General Hospital in the mid to late 90's and gave that up a few months ago.

I used to watch "All My Children" in the mid 90's when Knowa and Julia were together. Kelly Rippa was also on the show when she played the character Hailey. I think Edmund and Maria were togther too at the time on "All My Children". I kinda catch the show when I come at night.  I know Julia(Sydney Penny) just came back to "All My Children". She still looks the same. She is pretty.

This is when I started watching.  I still watch GH now with the whole Sonny/Carly storyline.

I also used to watch DOOL, but lately it's gotten really stupid.

Ah, yes, I'd forgotten that he was on "Facts of Life".  I checked IMDB, and he is listed as bieing in a TV series called "E/R" (NOT to be confused with the famours ER on Thursday nights on NBC) from 1984-85.  He played "Ace".  So I guess I was wrong about him being in a soap.

Those were Primetime Soaps  ;)

There was a daytime soap called Texas  in the early 80's.  It was a spin-off from Another World  :)
