"Rapper's Delight".My older sister got the last copy of the album in the city and she knelt by our old-fashioned stereo putting the needle back on the record until she had every word to the extended version written down. There was a time when i could rhyme off the whole thing but these days i need the song to be playing as i go.I still get excited when i hear it..otherwise,lots of other great choices here too.."It Takes Two","Push It","Bust a Move",and "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash should be included :)

Well, from this list I'd choose "It Takes Two" but if you had "Other" as a choice, I'd surely go with "The Breaks" by Kurtis Blow.

Dont like much of this kinda music, but I really like Bust A Move. Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers played the bass part on that song. That bass part pretty much made the song a hit, but supposedly Flea didnt get much recognition or $$$ for it.

I selected "Rapper's Delight"... I don't actually recall it from the 80's but I heard it a couple of years ago and that song is just all that.
I'll throw a couple more out there for y'all:
"Girls" by Egyptian Lover
"The Real Roxanne" Roxanne with UTFO
"Space Cowboy" or "Pack Jam" by Jonzun Crew
"Jam On It" by Newcleus
"Get It Girl" by The 2 Live Crew
I don't know if you classify these "hip-hop" but throw in:
"Rockit" by Herbie Hancock
"Atomic Dog" George Clinton

Actually, it wasn't the sound was locally around for at least a year prior to the song's release and never really liked in the neighborhoods that produced the sound. It was too poppy, they felt.
It was by UTFO :)
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
