A shock of disbelief! I can't stand the woman! I've read a lot of things about her that I don't approve of.

I wasn't really surprised that Aretha Franklin was no 1 (even though she was a soul singer, like Gloria Estefan was a latino singer, ABBA had two blokes involved as well and that I think Talking Heads only had one lady involved with the band . . .). Franklin is quite a legendary singer.

They might as well have put P.P Arnold and Nina Simone in the more questionable spaces.

I know she is I just don't approve of her and I can't stand her voice.

You can bet that if Frank Sinatra were still around he'd have taken some execs over at VH1 for a "Ride" after Nancy wasn't number 1 ::)

I'd like to know what the people at VH1 were smoking when they put that list together. Guy singers, country singers, people who should have never sung (Yoko Ono).  They are truly unbelievable.

I know what you mean, but I'm glad they put in Annie Lennox and Christine McVie in it. Instead of arguing about it why don't you all give me the ones that you agree with or the ones that you like? Lets make peace  ;)

I think that Aretha Franklin was the right choice.  I love her voice. :)

Her voice does my head in. Seriously. It's all harsh and raspy. I prefer singers with rich voices what don't sound awful. I accept your opinion and please don't be offended by my opinion.

Love Lennox

She's only got one song I really like, but it's one of my favorites from the '70s (1974 to be exact)...

"Until You Come Back to Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do)" :)

I love its piano intro. One of my favorite song intro's too.

;D

Aretha was the right choice. In your youth, your argument is tainted.
