I modified the poll so that your vote matches "Check It Out". I don't know if it will mess up the poll. :-\\

'Living In Miami' was the first song I ever heard....I think he was Johnny Cougar then....and remains my favourite !

I think it was '78 or '79, though.  :)

This might be a 70s song, unless it was 1980. :-\\

It sounds more 80s to me than Jack and Diane.  But I just looked it up and it was indeed 1980.

That's what I was thinking!  I Need a Lover is my favorite of his.

Pat Benatar has a pretty good version but it's nothing like JCM's original.  It's on Crimes of Passion.  Have you heard it?

THE AUTHORITY SONG
Why wasn't "The Authority Song" on the poll?

"Crumblin' Down" and "Little Pink Houses" were also great.  "Jack & Diane" was cool the first hundred million times I heard it!
;D

I'm sure I dd hear it because I had that album, I had all her albums, come to think of it, but I don't remember that song.

Oh, so many great songs! So hard to choose! Okay, well I went with Jack & Diane only because it was the first song I ever heard by JCM, and it's what got me hooked, so I figure it deserves my #1 pick.

Even though I like most of his music, this is one of my favorites.  Another one is Peaceful World.  I like the live acoustic version they put out on the God Bless America CD that came out after 9/11.

'Rain On The Scarecrow' with 'Paper in Fire' and 'The Authority Song'.

I really like his music, I picked "paper in fire" off the list. I think "I need a lover" is a favorite out of all his stuff, that's late 70's though so "paper in fire" it is :)

I really dig this guy - don't ask me to only pick one song, LOL!

Well okay, if I had to, it's gonna be the proverbial classic 80's rock song "Hurts so Good". The first one I heard, back in my VH1 days (early 90's).

Everything he did from 1980-87 was gold, though. He started to slip a bit after Scarecrow (just IMO) - going in a more country/laid back sound, as opposed to the more anthem rocker of the earlier half of the 80's.
