A stylish (if a little wierd) video with Bowie dressed as a clown and that. I never understood the lyrics though.  :-[

I think it's a companion piece to "Space Oddity." It, too, talks about Major Tom. :)

Yes. 'We know Major Tom's a junky . . .'

Some people have said that it's about a drug trip. I can't confirm or deny it.

If it's '80s Bowie, I gotta go with Ashes to Ashes.  Close behind are Let's Dance (actually all the singles from the Let's Dance album are great, as well as Cat People (Putting Out Fire)), Blue Jean, and Absolute Beginners (although AB is a little too Andrew Lloyd Webber in the orchestration, but otherwise a great song).  Another one of my favorites is
Scary Monsters
(and Super Creeps)

I picked Blue Jean.  I always loved the long version of the video.

She spoke to me and that was it.............

I like Ashes To Ashes & my favourite is Magic Dance from Labyrinth. I love David Bowie. ;)

Ugh - to me Bowie's 80's output pretty much stinks except for Scary Monsters. So I'll have to go with others that mentioned "Ashes to Ashes".

When it first came out I really liked Let's Dance, so I probably would have voted for "China Girl". But all I have to do now is listen to Iggy Pop's version from The Idiot (1977 and produced by Bowie), and Bowie's version leaves a lot to be desired. Now that I'm older and better able to compare it to the rest of his output, Let's Dance really comes off much more as a typical 80's Nile Rodgers pop album with David Bowie on lead vocals.

Then again, some of the tracks from Labyrinth (movie versions, not the soundtrack versions) do provide some redemption to help tip the Bowie 80's scale back to tolerable, but it's just not enough to save us from the horror of Tonight and Never Let me Down.

I'm a huge Bowie fan and own pretty much everything he's ever put out, but for the most part I can do without his 80's work.
