Subject: The Top 20 Songs From 1980

Written By: RockandRollFan on 07/14/04 at 3:13 pm

"Lost In Love" gets my vote...followed CLOSELY by "Comin' Up"...and IMO...the REAL Michael Jackson's best song before he turned his face into a quivering blob of jello...."Rock With You"

I picked "Cruisin'" (Smokey Robinson), followed by "Lost In Love" (Air Supply).  8)

Mark, you know it gets extremely difficult to choose when you have all of the top songs in one list.  You should divide them up between the 4 lists.  Just a suggestion.  :)

Karen...do you mean breaking the top 20 into 4 separate lists?

Looks like it's down to six songs for me

Call Me, Blondie
Rock With You, Michael Jackson
Ride Like The Wind, Cristopher Cross
Cars, Gary Numan
Cruisin', Smokey Robinson
Upside Down, Diana Ross

And I'll go with one of my favorite '80s songs
Rock With You, Michael Jackson :)

I bet MJ wishes he could go back to his "Off the Wall" days. ???

Actually, what I meant was taking those Top 100 songs for that year and dividing them into 4 random lists....making sure that the Top 20 are not all in the same list.  Do you follow?  Of course this means having to disregard the ranking for the songs.  :)

Modified to add: I just realized that you're doing 5 lists for each year, not 4...but that shouldn't make any difference.

Magic, Great songs from a crumby movie.  A lot of these songs remind me of county fair time in 1980.

I'm sorry for all of you who didn't pick "Another Brick in the Wall".  I mean c'mon, what band can surpass the lyrical genius of Pink Floyd?  8)

I'll never forget the time my friends and I went to the video store to rent "The Wall" for the first time.  As the store clerk was ringing up our rentals, he asked us, "So, what drugs will you be doing while watching this movie?"  Gotta say that taking drugs sure would have helped me to understand the movie better than watching it sober!
