Subject: Funniest 80s Movie

Written By: bj26 on 08/26/04 at 12:31 pm

Mine is Trading Places, especially the part when Jamie Lee Curtiss said, "No, I'm Inga from Sveeden."
while she was gesturing, and the rest thought Switzerland - what a chaotic nutty part ;D!  Add a funny part of a movie if you like!

That is one of my all-time favorite movies. I have watched it I don't know how many times. There are so many wonderful lines from that movie. I always liked right after Billy Ray breaks the vase and the Duke boys said that with the insurance, they made money and he asked if they wanted him to break something else and the Dukes and Colman put up their hands and all three say, "No".

Another movie I love is History of the World Part I "It's good to be the king".

Both of those are great. Its so hard because alot of gret comedies came out in the 80's. But I think my fave b/c of sentimental reasons would be Arthur.

It's hard to pinpoint as said before. The 80s were a great time for comedies!

"I've been waiting for you, Billy Ray...."

Twice in my life I have had to reach for my asthma ventilator.
Richard Pryor in Concert 1980? , the other in 2000, The Original Kings of Comedy.

These might have been early 90s, but two of my faves are Planes Trains & Automobiles, and National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.  The original National Lampoons Vacation from 1980 or so was a gutbuster too, loved that one.

There's no way that I can only choose one:

A Fish Called Wanda
Raising Arizona
Caddyshack
History of the World Part I
Arthur
Airplane!
Stripes
Trading Places
Coming to America
This is Spinal Tap

I have a lot of comedy favorites from that time, but I would have to say 16 Candles is pretty high up there.
Others...
Better Off Dead
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
A Christmas Story
Heathers (a dark comedy)
Revenge of the Nerds

Caddyshack
Fletch
Back to School
but my absolute all time favorite has got to be:

SPACEBALLS: The Movie

Colonel Sanders: Prepare ship for lightspeed!
Dark Helmet: No, no, no! Lightspeed's too slow!
Colonel Sanders: Lightspeed too slow?
Dark Helmet: Yes. We're going to have to go right to.......Ludicrous speed! (everyone gasps)
Colonel Sanders: Ludicrous speed? Sir, we've never gone that fast before...I don't know if the ship can take it!
Dark Helmet: What's the matter, Colonel Sanders? Chickennn?!

I was just thinking of that one. Kevin Klien was EXCELLENT in that-and earned him an Oscar to boot.
