Subject: A little 80's movie trivia

Written By: RojoP on 10/22/04 at 6:53 am

Participation is optional...

I thought that this would be fun.  I will come up with an obscure (IMO) quote from an 80's movie and the person that knows what movie it comes from will then come up with their own obscure movie quote.

Here you go:

"Your're not God - you're just a highschool football coach."

Now do you have an obscure quote?

"I have claustophobia"
"Oh No, me too"

From a very obscure horror flick (though very cheesy)

How 'bout this one..........

You're out on the street trying to score an electric blanket, maybe even a quilt. Then the next thing you know, you're strung out on bedspreads.

The Princess Bride ?

If I'm right then this is the movie trivia quote:

"Tell us everything! Everything! Lawrence

Everything. OK! I'll talk! In third grade, I cheated on my history exam. In fourth grade, I stole my uncle Max's toupee and I glued it on my face when I was Moses in my Hebrew School play. In fifth grade, I knocked my sister Edie down the stairs and I blamed it on the dog...When my mom sent me to the summer camp for fat kids and then they served lunch I got nuts and I pigged out and they kicked me out...But the worst thing I ever done -- I mixed a pot of fake puke at home and then I went to this movie theater, hid the puke in my jacket, climbed up to the balcony and then, t-t-then, I made a noise like this: hua-hua-hua-huaaaaaaa -- and then I dumped it over the side, all over the people in the audience. And then, this was horrible, all the people started getting sick and throwing up all over each other. I never felt so bad in my entire life.

I'm beginning to like this kid, Ma!"

Well done, onaree! I thought that would've been easier, but Howard & rubix wound up dancing all around it. Flight Of The Navigator always was one of my favorites. I had a feeling that the little David & Jeff exchange would be a make it  bit more challenging. BTW, it just came out on DVD.

Now then, since my first one has been guessed, here's another quote for you to work on:

"Drop your weapon, Amerikanitz!"

Good luck to all with this one.

BTW Jamie, I'm gonna hazard a guess on yours, Major League?
And onaree? See ya later, Navigator!

I'll definately have to check out Navigator on DVD.  I just LOVE that movie.  I knew it from the first line, but didn't get here in time to answer it with that one.

JAMIE DOES IT AGAIN!

For Weekend At Bernie's it is. In fact, that was the very last line in the movie. Howard, trying to grab on to Jamie's coattails like that actually made you look like Bernie himself, being dragged along by the living! Then again, I don't know if Jamie is more a Richard or a Larry! 8>)

Back To The Future Part 3?

I got one for the group to guess....

"God has a hard on for Marines, because we kill everything we see. He plays His games, we play ours. To show our appreciation for so much power, we keep heaven packed with fresh souls. God was here before the Marine Corps, so you can give your heart to Jesus, but your *** belongs to the corps. "

Thanks for giving the answer, I was about to guess "Platoon"!

As for clues, the first one involves two boats named "PT109" and "The American Dreamer".

And when watching the second one, enjoy your oatmeal cookies but avoid the Cheerios.

Those should have you thinking! Good luck.

Well Done, Chel-bert!
I wondered how tricky that one would be. I hesitated on giving the Cheerios clue because I thought it would be a giveaway. The line I gave was part of Big Russ Thompson's first line in the film. You guys didn't think I'd just toss out "Dad, don't eat me!", did you?

OK, try this one:

"What does she think this is, a Princess Cruise?"

This one's kind of easy compared to my others. Good luck!

"love and wet kisses on all your pink parts"

Heres two more clues

"Did anyone ever tell you that you have the face of a Botticelli and the body of a Degas?"

Besides the fact of not being at all funny, This movie has many technical errors.
The dialogue is horribly dubbed over in many scenes. Anyone paying close attention will
notice an actor's lips uttering one word, while a completely different word is heard.
I bet this was done to tone down the profanity and attain a PG-13 rating instead of an R.
While this was a smart way to assure teens (no doubt the target audience) would be allowed
to see the film, it made the finished product extremely laughable. The length of
the main actors hair suddenly changes in one scene near the end of the movie.
How he was able to grab a haircut while walking in a parking garage with the main actress
is beyond me!

Well done again, Jamie! "Midnight Run" it is.
I figured that one would be a little more obscure, since the line wasn't DeNiro's. OTOH, this was my favorite set of lines from the film:

Jack: Serrano, there's something I've wanted to say to you for ten years.
Jimmy: Yeah, what's that?
Jack: You're under arrest.

I'll have to think hard for a new line to toss out here. Stay tuned!

Vacation!

And very good work, Dag and Sky. I think I'm running out of 80's movies to quote, but I hope not. Here's my next one:

"You know what people are really liking at night? Headlights."
Good luck guys!

No.  It's just the next series of dialogue from "Raiders of the Lost Ark."  It's my favorite exchange in the film.

The Last Dragon

This wasn't really an action classic, but it was funny enough to be entertaining, NTM the music was good. Pay no attention to the critics reviewing it on Amazon! BTW, well done on my Short Circuit line, Jamie! Here's my next one:

Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom!

I oughta know, I just got all 3 of them on DVD for Christmas. Haven't watched that one yet, maybe sometime this week. BTW Jamie, you were right on Dragnet. I should've known anything starring Tom Hanks in the 90's would be a little obvious, but not from that far back. Good work.

Definitely The Goonies! And now, I've got one for you. The movie's not obscure, but the lines might be:

"Buttface!"
"Scuzzbucket! Nana-nana-nah-nah."
"You'll NEVER see your ninth birthday, I promise!"

" I don't get it.'
"You gnaw on her face in public like that again and you'll be one. Ah, heh heh heh heh!"
