Subject: AIR SUPPLY SONG REMAKE????

Written By: bosundave on 10/29/04 at 10:54 am

OK ,  I know Air Supply origionally performed  "I Can't Live"  (with out you).
I recently heard a female vocalist's version of this song. Who did it? When?
This is important. It is sort of  "OUR" song (my fiancee and me).

not familiar with an Air Supply version..as far as i can tell it's "Without You" by Nilsson(and apparently covered by Mariah Carey as per Woops) :)

The chart-topping version of this song done in the 90's was in fact done by Celine Dion.

OK, Thanks everybody.  I used your info to search google a little better. I also came up for sure that Whitney Houston did this song too. Mariah Carey is confirmed but I can find no reference to Celine Dion. I think Nilson did in fact do a remake too. As far as I know the orgional version was in fact done by Air Supply in 1980. I don't know if they wrote it.

Anyone can confirm that Celine Dion did this. I search all her songs and couldnt find it. Thanks, Dave

AHA!!!  The PLOT THINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Yet further searchs verifies that "without You" was written by Pete Ham from Badfinger fame in the late 60's or early 70's. The song was made more famous by Harry Nilson's more succesful remake. Then came Air Supply, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and perhaps even Celine Dion.
I wonder if all thes artist realize the origional author (Ham) hanged himself days before his 28th birthday. They even have a "Tragic Story Book" about Badfinger called "Without You"              BEHOLD!!! The POWER of GOOGLE!!
(Sorry to start a thread in the 80's section for a 70's song, but thats what this site is all about no?)
So, now that I know a little history of the song writer I am not so crazy to have it as "our" song  (me aand my fiancee) A little morbid dontcha think??

"Without You" is not an 1980's song written in the 1980's.  It was a 70's hit, as stated here, by Nielson.  Any other versions of this song, including Carey's version, are remakes.

Air Supply did not do a version of this song that ever charted.  I find no info on them ever recording the song.
