Subject: George Michael's Father Figure

Written By: Satish on 11/08/04 at 6:12 pm

When George Michael came out of the closet after getting caught in that incident in a public washroom, he admitted that all the songs he had composed since leaving Wham were really written about men. This makes listening to his old songs more interesting, since you now have a new way to look at the meaning of the lyrics.

For instance, I heard his song Father Figure on the radio today, and knowing it was written about a  man adds a whole new dimension to it. The song seems positively scandalous now. There's one line in particular, "I'll be your daddy", that becomes incredibly hilarious if you think about it....  ::)

What about "Monkey?"

It has the line, "why don't you set your monkey free."

I guess his partner was spanking it too much.

I try not to think too much about the lyrics when I hear those songs.

I had a hard time believing he was gay until he came out after he was busted in that Beverly Hills bathroom.

I remember the "Careless Whisper" video in which he was involved with two women at the same time - I also remember hearing rumors back in the mid-80's about him dating Brooke Shields.

I never even knew George Michael was gay too.I always thought that in the "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go"video he looked a little bit too fruity for my taste. ;D  especially with the pink gloves and earrings in both ears he wore. ::)

I still have my cassette (remember those) of the album Faith. Geroge Micheal could have been a father
figure to someone, or maybe not!
