Subject: Snigglets

Anyone remember Snigglets? It's a dictionary of words that don't appear in a dictionary but should, and it has some really funny stuff in it, for example....

Carperpetuation (kar' pur pet u a shun) - n. The act, when vacuuming, of running over a string at least a dozen times, reaching over and picking it up, examining it, then putting it back down to give the vacuum one more chance.

Cinemuck - n. The combination of popcorn, soda, and melted chocolate which covers the floors of movie theaters.

I remember these!

I also recall doing a lesson on sniglets in one of my English classes...  A few sniglets I recall include:

Fenderberg- the"iceberg" that results when icecicles have melted together & refroze on the fender of one's car

mustgo - any item of food that has been in the fridge so long it has become a science project

Worth mark-the sticky mark left behind after you try to remove the price tag from an item

Musquirt - the clear liquid that comes out of a mustard bottle before the mustard does.

Frankfluid - the liquid that hot dogs are packed in.

Not sure if this a snigglet but here goes...

Alfred Hitchcooking:

Continuously stabbing at a block of frozen vegetables to make them cook faster.

It also describes my feeble atempts in trying to get open frozen packages of hot dog weiners!  ::)  ;D

That was a Sniglet.  Probably the one I use most.

Another favourite is "elbonics" the manouvres you use to get control of both arms on a cinema seat.

I saw an Essoasso the other day - someone trying to skip around a junction or traffic queue by zooming through a petrol station forecourt.

FOrgot to add.

If you like this book look out for "The Meaning of Liff" by John Cleese and somebody else.  It is very similar but uses placenames for all those things which currently have no word.
