In the early 80s my best friends parents owend a bar & his weekend morning chore was to clean
the bar... and ofcorse I was more then eager to help.  He had a way of tweeking the machine &
getting it to spit out free games... but that wasn't the best part of this deal, it was our
sneaking out a bottle of vodka when we were finished cleaning!

Funny...
My wife and I were talking about Pac Mac a while ago.  I used to love that game when I was younger.  I remember going out and buying the cheaters hand book that had all the maps for each level.  A couple of bucks would last the entire night.
Ah memories.

Wow. Where did you get that? I thought that game disappeared into the annals of internet history. The guy who wrote it was one of many in the old K&P (Klik N Play, which is now known as Multimedia Fusion. Both are game creation packages) scene.

I loved Pac Man in the 80's.  I have Pac Man adventure which I bought because it plays the original version of Pac Man.  It isn't the same without the joystick though.  I really suck at the game, back then and currently.  Also loved Galaga and centipede.

I've seen some pretty good Pac Man players in my time, but I was more of a Missle Command buff. First time I saw Pac Man in about 19 & 82, the guy playing it called the game "Eat a monster!"

The title of this thread caught my eye because I used to use it as an illness when I would call in sick to work.  One time, the receptionist had never heard of the game/song so she thought that it was real!  I have worked at the place for over 9 years with great attendance, so when I call in sick they know that I am REALLY sick.  I still manage to come up with some creative musical illnesses on those rare occasions; they have learned to accept it, and actually look forward to it; others include:

Cat Scratch Fever - Ted Nugent
Rockin' Pneumonia & the Boogie Woogie Flu - Ray Orbison
Bad Case of Lovin' You - Robert Palmer (depends on who answers the phone)

There are 1 or 2 more songs/illnesses that I have used in the past, but can't remember them at this time.

I did play a lot of PM on Atari, but I agree about Ms. Pac Man.  Every time I see arcade games, I have to see if it's there.  I even have my kids trained to look for it!

Ms. was easier and more fun.  What 80's kid wasn't ecstatic the first time he/she got to "The Chase?"

I'm glad they added that safety passage, since it helped to prolong and help bring about those who made it to the 9th Key and beyond. I personally first played Pac-Man in 1990 (the Tengen version for the NES), and at the time saw it as "somewhat basic" compared to the scrolling and more colorful games, but still enjoyed it for its simplicity. Not to mention the NES version was the first time you could get near arcade-quality graphics and sound. I liked Burgertime though more thanks to the peppers, scoring combinations, and overall challenge though when I first found an arcade machine at a dentist's office around 1992 or so.

Yes, I still play Pac-Man.  It's the only game I'm really good at.
