when I'm on the mike
everyone listens
when I go offstage
you'll all be missin'

'cause I'm so g
your rhymes don't touch mine
cause you don't have flava
my lyrical ambrosia is a life-saver
when I play my favorite sport
no one stands a chance
the game's eleven to one when I take my shootin' stance
when TAB busts his riffs
your mind goes adriff
to an ill land
where all wackness is banished
when I hit the airwaves all that Nelly crap will vanish
cause

There was a whole pile of cheezy songs in the 80s that I couldn't stand, but I only had a few come to mind at the moment...
Kids In America - Kim Wilde
99 Luftballons - Nena
Wake Me Up Before You Go Go - Wham
Pass the Dutchie - Musical Youth  ::)

Ain't that the truth!! :P  I feel the exact same way.

I love most 80's cheese and a great many I don't even consider to be truly cheese, like some of the already listed.

My pick:

Debbie Gibson - Electric Youth  -- I didn't like that particular tune and thought her other hits were quite alright. I did like the scent of the fragrance she marketed also called Electric Youth.

"Take on Me" by a-ha IS cheesy, but it also has the best synths EVER in my opinion.  The senselessness of the lyrics comes from the translation (a-ha are Norwegian), it's really about asking a shy girl to take a chance with you. The video makes the song 1.5 times better.

"Agadoo" by Black Lace -and that video clip, OMG! The bleached mullets, the sleeveless computer-knit pullovers, no mistaking what decade we're in!
Anything by the Village People must also be added to the list, IMO.
Cheers,
Dee  :-*
