Subject: lost title of 80's book about chameleon??

there was a book from my childhood that was about a chameleon trying to change colors and the only thing my brother and i remember is the page were the chameleon is standing on the comic page of a newspapertrying to change into all those colors. cannot figure out the title it is driving me like totally insane,,,someone please help
