Subject: What John Hughes Movie from 1980-1987 should I see?

All I've seen so far is Ferris Bueller and Home Alone from Hughes.  What would you suggest to see next?  I'm thinking Breakfast Club.

Breakfast club is a great movie. I saw it for the first time a couple years ago and really liked it.

Yes, probably go Bc first.  Second I'd say Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.

BC is great, but sort of anti-climactic. I'd go with BC, but directly followed by Weird Science.

For sure Breakfast Club and then Uncle Buck.  PT&A is a close third.

That should get you started!

Breakfast Club
16 Candles

But these other movies should be considered for good 80's depictions:

Class - Rob Lowe/Andrew McCarthy
Taps
Pretty In Pink
Oxford Blues
War Games
Valley Girl
Weird Science
St. Elmo's Fire
Less Than Zero

This wasn't a John Hughes movie, but one of my favorite 80's teen flicks was "Three O'Clock High." BTW, I often wonder why John Hughes hasn't made any new movies since the early 90's.

Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles.

Tanya

My thoughts, too.  Gotta love Sixteen Candles...the Donger is one of the best characters in any 80's movie. :D

Another great John Hughes film in "She's Having a Baby"  It stars Kevin Bacon, Elizabeth McGovern and one of the Baldwin brothers.  It also has some really good songs from Dave Wakling (General Public) and Kate Bush.

I like that General Public song "Tenderness".  It is really what I think of when I think of the 80s.

I agree.  Everytime I hear that song it reminds me of the end of Weird Science.  It always puts me in a good mood for some reason too.
