Did anyone here buy a Cabbage Patch Kid, when they first came out? I got one of the newest ones from a local Toys R' Us recently.

You mean in the 80's? I got one for Christmas. My grandma went to Toys R Us to buy me one and they were sold out so she bought one from somebody selling them somewhere and paid 3 times as much for it. I wish I still had it :-[

I still have a CPK Preemie from 1985.
Has anyone ever been to Babyland General here they are "born?"

I still have mine from the 80's. I bought one at Christmas for my niece - I was surprised they still had the same smell.

I was a Barbie girl. But, my baby sister got one the very first time they came out in 1983. Talk about drama! However, since we are African-American, we didn't have a problem getting one!

Unfortunately, I do have a CPK from the 80's.
Its stuffed away somewhere where no one will find it.
I remember getting it for X-mas, along with my bro and sis both getting one....
I was like, "Um...mom.....this is NOT Castle Greyskull"
I think it was more of a status symbol...she was happy that she could just get them for us.
Moms are weird.
